The Beauty of George Washington's Teeth

Some interesting information about the teeth of the first president of the most powerful country in the world.

The Beauty of George Washington's Teeth

American President George Washington was facing severe dental health problems throughout his life. When he became President of the United States in 1789, he had only one real tooth left in his mouth.  Over the years, he used numerous sets of artificial teeth, some of them made from horse and cow teeth, as well as from hippos, rhinoceroses, and elephants found in the frozen regions of the Arctic.

But some of his artificial teeth were sometimes fitted with human teeth. It is believed that these teeth may have been obtained from the slaves who worked at his Mount Vernon Plantation in 1784.  Shilling paid.  It should be clear that British currency and coins were prevalent in America till that time.

However, it is not clear whether he added them to his own set of teeth or whether he was simply buying them for his dentist, who used them to make dentures for other clients.
